show-going dilemma

This is the place for those strange things you do every day... the crazy things you learned from your grandmother, or from desperation, that you think the world should know about. For god sake, White Out was started by a desperate house wife and some flour!

Haha that's wicked that you found a mum to hold your stuff! I would never have thought of that.
When I was a barmaid we weren't allowed to hold stuff for people behind the bar because if it got ruined/stolen we'd be liable and sue-able (?). Which is stupid because I knew most of them and they'd never have sued us.
Fuck this.

^^ yeah i didn't bother asking an employee. actually i didn't even ask the mom! i was draping my coat and hoodie over the barrier between the general crowd and the over-21 section and some 13-year-old's mom asked me if i wanted her to hold my stuff so nothing happened to it! so lucky.

and luckily it's going to start warming up pretty soon (I HOPE), so i won't need to worry about all that until next winter. woo!

I guess you may have bigger venues theres, but if there is absolutley nowhere to stash a coat. I usually ask a bartender or one of the local band members.

i agree with other as most bartenders/ venue employees are busy and wont be bothered to hold your stuff. like most i usually stash it wherever i can. nothings ever been stolen.

one time i ask a touring band member to hold a bag of cables for me for a few minutes as i helped my bf's band load their cars. and they made off with it. assholes

This. Local band members, preferably ones you consider friends. And even if they are jerks and make off with your stuff then they aren't too hard to find and deal with.

I'd just wear something that I can keep on or not wear a jacket I guess.
I had to take my wallet chain off at HoB Sunset and left it in a tree and that even got stolen, so I don't want to try with a jacket.

^ Yeah I understand that, but most of the shows I go to are in Los Angeles and it doesn't get below 50 much.

luckily most of the shows i go to i also help run a lot of the times so i stash my coat and purse in the concession area and its fine. if i dont go there i wear a hoodie and tie it around my waste, sucks when its uber cold but luckily usually dont stand outside too long and will just jump around while doing so
