show-going dilemma

This is the place for those strange things you do every day... the crazy things you learned from your grandmother, or from desperation, that you think the world should know about. For god sake, White Out was started by a desperate house wife and some flour!

show-going dilemma

Postby just_icarus on Wed Feb 17, 2010 3:41 pm

i'm sure a lot of you have had this issue as well. i'm going to a show tonight. i know it's going to be FREEZING outside, so i will definitely have a coat and hat on. but i know i'm going to be jumping around and having fun at the show, and will not want to carry my coat around. i never know what to do in these situations. thoughts?

Ugh I know this shitty situation well. I typically just try to wear the thinnest thing I can without freezing and just deal with it when I get start to get hot.

You are going beyond my realms of civilisation :P

Nah, layers, nothing too thick and a large bag for to pop them in when you get waaaaarm. I'd rather be too hot inside than freezing outside. How are you getting there? You might already be there by now actually so this is waaaasteeeeedddd.
Fuck this.

I very, very rarely take a coat with me when I go out.

Maybe wear a hoodie or jacket which you can take off inside and tie around your waist whilst you're at the gig.

Get drunk before you get there... and keep drinking so you don't feel cold. 8)

I think you can ask the bartender or person checking ID's your coat to hold on to. I started doing that after my first vest got stolen at a skafest.... :x

My vest was inbetween arcade games, usually a safe place, but alas some jerk took it--before I even left?!?

hmm. that's never happened to me. then again, you'd NEVER know my shit was there. I stash shit pretty well. that, and I don't really wear fashionable clothing.

I usually end up just wearing a hoodie and tying it around my waist. Still cold when I'm outside, but it beats being stuck with a coat and a bag to look after.

I would leave the coat in my car..but that seems pretty obvious :/
If you don't have a car there with you, I'd ask the bartender or someone in charge to hold it for you.
...and maybe we have to break everything to make something better out of ourselves.

yeah if it's not a super far walk/crazy long line i just leave it in the car... the idea of tying something around my waist is bothersome or i take an empty purse and throw my cardigan in it

but yeah i usually try to wear the thinnest thing possible like someone said.. but it's like 28 degrees out =\ i got lucky tonight though!
