Earlobe reconstruction ?

Postby autumn2793 on Sat Jul 19, 2008 2:54 am

this is just completely out of curiosity.

but is something like this

reversing stretched ears
done at a regular tattoo and piercing shop?
and do they use anesthesia or anything, it seems like that would be incredibly painful. I have looked at pictures on BME http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/01-ear/fixlobe001.html, and it looks pretty gruesome to not be done at a doctors office.

I just wondered =P

My sister's ex had that done, but not at a tattoo shop, he had it done by a plastic surgeon. Stretched ears are becoming so common now that plastic surgeons are offering that type of surgery. I dont know if i trust that type of procedure to be done at a shop.

I always wondered if you stopped stretching your ears and took out the plugs, would your ear lobes ever grow back together/try to fix themselves?

I guess I know now!

My boyfriend's ears are at 5/8" and if he leaves his plugs out for a few days, he has to struggle to fit them back in. And when he doesn't have them in, the holes look really small. I guess he just has super stretchy skin that bounces right back!

I send people to other body mod professionals (I don't offer reconstruction myself for legal reasons in California). It can usually be done around $100-200 at most, where plastic surgeons can charge in upwards of $1500-2500 per ear.

If you need it done, I suggest (personally) flying to Arizona for the procedure is MUCH cheaper AND easier on you.

No matter how long you leave it out, a majorly stretched ear lobe will NEVER go back to even close to normal.

It depends on the size of the gauge, but I've seen it where when they take out their plug, it looks like his ear lobe is noodles.

You can't even imagine how jealous I am that I didn't get the invite for that feast.
