you can get a looser curl, and avoid the crimpy thing if you just wrap your hair around the curling iron. dont use the part that makes the crimp.

be careful though, its much easier to burn yourself this way

I will probably will burn myself, I'm that clumsy.

I'll give this a try after I get a curling iron.

You are so gorgeous! I love your rolls

Even after tons of tutorials, I have only ever successfully made victory rolls once! I think it's because my hair is so fine...

when we have frizzy ends at school we put some jojoba or coconut oil in our hair to make it heavier and stick together....
we also do it when we are going to be lacing hair.

Hm, when i'm curling my hair i always curls the end first on its own whilst slowly running the hair through the iron thingy. Then i curl the rest leaving the end out which I've already curled ... maybe I'm using a different kind of appliance though. Lately I've been using a "ribbon curl styler" instead which is less harsh.

Anyway, woo! I love the tutorial. Finished look is so awesome. I have so many layers its hard work but worth it  .

ok sorry for this stupid paint drawing but i use this pin curl pattern
Image
i just put hairspray pin curl it like this then blowdry it and take it out and tease it, then i brush it smooth on the sides and manipulate the curls and then pin them in that way it has a thicker roll and isnt so flimsy and it looks more authentic 40's that way too

Great Tutorial! I just can't seem to get mine right though. I have really long hair, and it's ultra fine, so every time I roll and tuck it, it just falls apart, or looks really ridiculous.
if awesome is a crime... guess that makes me a criminal...
