I went to the Gyno in the beginning of the summer and she said i had a abnormal pap and then i had to come back so i went back and she scraped my cervix or something and did some other weird stuff and then i got a call that i had to go back again since its HPV. I know its been months but i haven't gone back yet because I don't know what their going to do no one explained anything to me so I'm kinda scared and don't want to go. Anyone know what the next step is?

first calm down. next talk to your gyno and ask all the questions you can. i just went through a cold cone biopsy for high dysplasia. this is what they consider pre cancer. i would recommend if you need to to get the cold cone this way the lab can see if all of the "margins" are clear. this means that all of the abnormal cells have been removed along with some good cells, which is okay that a few good cells go as long as ALL of the bad ones are gone too.
it is rare but hpv can also cause penis and YourMotherIsListeningAndSheHatesYouForSpamming cancer but the statistic say about 2300 (yes only two thousand three hundred) cases are recorded a year. so considering they say thirty thousand women a day are diagnosed with hpv that would be pretty freaking rare. but then again who knows for sure because there is no test for these other related "issues". at any rate it really isnt a big deal to find you have it unless it has gotten to the pre cancer or cancer stage. dont think i am belittling the importance but it isnt something to freak out about as long as you are getting your paps regularly and practicing safe sex.
the colposcopy hurts like a bi#ch for a little bit (like an hour depending on how high up and how many samples) but youll be fine. i drove home after ward. the cold cone is surgery so they put you out. the only thing that hurts (at least for me) was the IV being put in and pulled out.
it just depends on your age and how many cells you have. many times it is a wait and see so DO NOT miss any pap smears. my first pap after the cold cone is coming up next week and she is just going to throw it away. the next one in august (a year later) will be the one that counts at least that is what i was told. my sister knows 2 women one got the cold cone the other got the laser and both had children after. you just have to make sure you go to all of your appointments.
now the actual cervical cancer i cant tell you anything about other than the doctor will probably just give you a partial or full hysterectomy depending on what all is infected.
so in other wards get it checked out as soon as you can so you are not stressed about that may just need to be watched because sometime it does just go away (not cured, but naturally in remission.)
good luck and if you have any more questions just ask.
