Plus-sized Clothing??

Postby kitschycathie on Fri Jan 29, 2010 7:03 pm

I tried doing a search for this, but I gave up after 10 pages heh.
I am looking for website recommendations that sell cute plus size clothing. All that's in my area is Torrid and Lane Bryant ack. I've never really shopped on the internet for clothes before and I kinda don't know where to start. If there is a website that anyone knows and loves, I would appriciate the tip off:) Thanks!

I really love Torrid but their prices are a little high. The online clearance sales they have are pretty good though. Sorry thats not a lot of help.

Try bandlu.com, it's not so much punky, I don't think, but they're reasonably priced and have some pretty cute stuff!

also, not really "punky" but decent prices, and they have some cute things every now and then. but buyer beware, it's not the highest quality.

PRD search function to the rescue, check and see what you can find. There's the Fatshionista community on Livejournal, and they have sales a lot.

If you want high-quality stuff, check out the websites for Monif C, Igigi, Ashley Stewart, and Junonia...and the majority of this will be expensive. Crappy stuff follows under the Torrid, AGX, and Alight.com umbrella.

Or of course...DIY!

Modemerr.com makes their clothing to your measurements. The stuff is more rockabilly/pinup.

I get most of mine at thrift stores, but sometimes you gotta dig for them in what feels like a sea of extra-small clothes, and it makes me feel like crap a little bit.

Old Navy. They are some nice basic clothes once you get past all of the trendy stuff.

Most importantly, CUSTOMIZE!!

I've never had any issues with Torrid stuff except the bags. They are cheap as hell. I think that because I usually buy mostly stuff that isn't Torrid's brand. I must say, I LOVE Source of Wisdom jeans. They are pretty much amazing.

You're totally right, anything that Torrid carries like SoW, Fragile, Tripp and Dickies are pretty good if they are made well, but the Torrid house brand sucks. I would never pay the crazy prices they charge for some of their tops that are polyester tubes with sparkles.

If you're into shopping online, why not try http://www.1-plus.com/ ?

They're owned by Reitman's, and the store in my city is a Pennington's and AdditionElle in one building, which is superconvenient.

The MXM line of AdditionElle isn't exactly "punk," but there is some interesting stuff that I like.

They ship to Canada and the United States. I practically live at their store, but I've never shopped for their merchandise online. A bit pricey, but worth it.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Platipuses . I reallllllllllllyyy like her stuff... :-) But, yeah.. Torrids stuff is shit. I really like some of the brands they carry though.. I work in a motorcycle shop and like to wear dickies and its hard to find womens dickies that fit right, and thats the only place ive found em!
