I'm not sure why everyone is attacking PETA...?

I mean, please don't jump on me or anything. I'm kind of new to REALLY looking into this, and nothing I've read/heard about them seemed all that bad. Some stuff seems a little over the top, to say the least, but sometimes shock factor can be helpful, right? So if anyone could point me in the direction of actual information, that would be great.

Also, personally, I'm against people hunting animals in such large quantities. I understand that seal meat and etc. can be very useful to people who live in that area and actually hunt them and use every part of the animal, but honestly, it's pretty much our fault that the seal population has gotten so large, right? If there were more predators to keep things in balance, we wouldn't have to hunt seals to keep their population in check. Lack of predators, in most cases, stems from either climate change (mostly, if not all, our fault) or killing them because they kill and eat our domesticated animals, such as cattle (entirely our fault.) Correct me if I'm wrong.

As I said, I'm not claiming to know a lot about seals and their habitat. In fact, I'm not claiming to know anything about seals and their habitat. I just don't agree with the killing of animals, under most curcumstances, regardless of how 'cute' they are.

For one, they don't operate animal refuges with no kill policies.

How do you know that? Like, where did you learn about it? Could you tell me about a book or website or something?

Just join their mailing list. I got an email like two weeks ago asking for money to help abused animals so I was reading through it and it had the standard PETA shock value pictures and then talked about how they put the animals down...and this was STRAIGHT from PETA.

A quick google turned up this http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ not gonna lie, I didnt really even look at the site...

I'm seriously not trying to attack you, and I'm sorry if it came off that way. I think its cool that you've found something you feel strongly about, and I totally respect your intentions. I, personally, just have a really jaded view of PETA and really don't appreciate their tactics. It might be a good first source for hearing about issues, they have some tasty veggie recipes, and I think their heart is (mostly) in the right place...I would just caution you not to let that be your ONLY source of information.

In addition to all of these other very valid reasons, I also hate hate haaaaaaaateeee their advertising campaigns. A naked woman in a cage does not a subversive statement make.

Thanks to you guys for replying. My computer has been down, so I haven't had a chance to look at most of the links, but I appreciate the info.
